What are the Practical Assessment Filming, Equipment, Participants and Audio requirements?
Check out what's required to complete your Practical Assessment filming.
Equipment baseline. For most Cert III practical sessions you'll want a tape measure, an aerobic step (or sturdy box equivalent), dumbbells, a broomstick, and a skipping rope. A heart rate monitor (smartwatch is fine) and an electronic blood pressure machine are useful for several assessments. Specific equipment needs are listed in each assessment.
Participants. Where an assessment requires multiple clients across different demographics (age, gender, fitness level), each must be a different individual. The same person playing different roles is not acceptable. The assessment criteria require genuine variation.
Filming device. An iPhone or any modern smartphone works. Keep the camera stable, ensure lighting is good enough to clearly see you and the client, and check audio is clear before you begin.
Audio is critical. Assessors must clearly hear both you and the participant. This includes your verbal explanations, technique cues, feedback, and the client's responses. Submissions with unclear audio cannot be assessed against the communication criteria, even when the practical demonstration is otherwise strong.
Where to upload. Submissions can be uploaded directly to your portal in Dropbox, Google Drive, or OneDrive link. If using a cloud link, set access to 'anyone with the link can access'. Restricted links cannot be opened by your assessor and will delay resulting of your submission
Need help? If your circumstances make filming difficult, reach out before submission. Reasonable adjustments are sometimes available where genuine barriers exist (for example, IT restrictions or remote location).
