What is a Special Consideration?
Special Consideration, Process and Required Evidence
Special Consideration is available where genuine extenuating circumstances have affected your ability to progress through your studies. Examples include serious illness, mental health concerns under treatment, family bereavement, or significant unexpected life events.
Required evidence. A personal statement on its own is not considered sufficient. Supporting documentation is required:
-
Documentation from a doctor or health professional supporting treatment for illness, injury, or mental health concerns.
-
Evidence of family circumstances or events that have contributed to increased stress or impact on your studies.
-
Other relevant documentation that supports the situation described in your application.
How to apply. Submit your application using the Special Consideration form. Here, you can explain what is the reason for your request, as well as provide your supporting documentation. Each request is reviewed individually. Applying does not guarantee that your application will be approved.
Possible outcomes. If approved, Special Consideration may include discounted extension pricing, deferral fee waivers, fee-free extensions, or alternative adjustments tailored to your situation. The outcome is confirmed in writing once a decision has been made.
Reasonable adjustment. Where genuine practical barriers exist (such as IT restrictions, accessibility needs, or remote location preventing standard delivery), Onfit can apply a 'reasonable adjustment' to enable you to complete your assessments. Reasonable adjustments are reviewed by the Education and Curriculum Manager and applied where they don't compromise the integrity of the qualification.
