What is required to complete the Group Exercise Session assessment?

Learn what is required for your Group Exercise assessment, including duration, participant numbers, and what is not permitted.

Your Group Exercise session plans must meet the following standards.

Session structure

  • 45‑minute duration including introduction, warm‑up, conditioning and cool‑down
  • At least six (6) participants, all aged 18+

Scope of practice & equipment

Only general fitness equipment, exercises and modes within the scope of a Certificate III in Fitness are permitted.

Not permitted

  • Boxing or other combat/martial arts, and associated equipment
  • Aqua/water‑based exercise
  • Clinical Pilates, yoga, bodybuilding or competitive strength training (e.g. Olympic/Power lifting)
  • Kettlebells, TRX bands, Power Bags or other specialised equipment
  • Home‑made or modified equipment
  • Prescribed therapeutic, rehabilitation or corrective exercise programmes
  • High‑risk populations (pregnancy/post‑partum, injuries and/or disabilities)
  • Clients under 18 years of age
